Sundays on the island

On Sunday, we took Grace on a walk after breakfast.
She took her stick (the red kong stick).

She carried it the entire way to the park.

The walk to the park is .6 miles, one way.

Chris found a little Tiki treasure on the way.

I think I may have been more excited about the Tiki treasure than Chris. Note the fact I kept making him pose with it.

After we spent some time at the park, and threw the ball for Grace, we continued on to Miss Cordelia's. That was an additional full mile. Grace carried her stick the entire way.

At Cordelia's, we rested outside where Grace got some fresh water, and she watched over her stick.

And yes, she carried her stick the full 2 miles home.

2 equals 2

I know a garage is not the most exciting topic for a blog, but I just have to share that our house has a two-car garage AND two cars fit into.

There's even room to open the doors and actually get inside each car!

You'll also notice there is a canoe hanging from the ceiling...

A very nice cabinet for boy-related accessories...

A place to hang man stuff...

And, even a man nook for tools, man crafts, etc.

Basically, the garage is the perfect Man Cave, and I love it because it keeps all of Chris' accouterments outside of our house.Yeah!!

I have good-looking friends!

For Labor Day weekend, I traveled to West Palm Beach to see all my college girlfriends. We had so much fun, and we were all totally surprised that we all were able to make it.

Roll call (from left to right): Anna, Kathy, me, Shelby, Leah and Vanessa

The weekend was also my 8th anniversary with Kathy. Yes, we celebrate our anniversaries and give each other appropriate gifts. The 8th year is bronze and pottery. She gave me an awesome bronze colored Cross pen. She knows my love of all things office-supply related. I can't tell you what I got her because I just put it in the mail.

Shelby and her two roommates were so nice to let us all crash at their apartment. Their place was super nice, and although I didn't get any good pictures of it, the windows in the next photo are in her living room.

We are some good-looking gals, and were so fortunate that we were all able to be together. You'll also see than none of us got really badly burned. My ankles took the brunt of it, but overall we faired really well.
It was the perfect way to end the summer!

Our balcony celebration

Saturday afternoon we struck out on a bike ride. It was very eventful. The first event was that I was able to easily access by bike onto the street. In our apartment, Chris would have to carry my bike down two flights of stairs to the parking lot. My bike is the best bike ever, and incredibly heavy.
The other event was that on our ride, two blocks from our house, a neighbor had a sign for Muddy Water Seafood, fresh gulf shrimp. Yes, of course we stopped. This guy is actually a new vendor at the Memphis Farmers' Market where I volunteer, and he had extra shrimp that they didn't sell at the market. We picked up two pounds of fresh shrimp for dinner. Here I am touting our find. What a neighborhood!

After our bike ride, we decided to have a celebratory snack on our balcony. Our real estate agent, Myra, our saviour, had given us a bottle of champagne after we purchased the house. We paired it with bread from Miss Cordelia's, fresh grapes, goat cheese from a local farm, Bonnie Blue Farm, and smoked salami from West Wind Farms. Oh my, what a feast!

Here you can see us enjoying our treats and surroundings.

Cheers to our new balcony, and we said a special thank for Myra!

The best Saturday yet!
