We have a nursery!

Welcome to Everett's nursery!

Chris took the initials from my Little Rock shower and made a door hanging.

This door hanger was on my nursery. The backside tells you to be quiet because the baby's sleeping. Let's hope we use that side a lot.

It's the magical chair!!

And the crib with the bedding wall decals.

And the changing table...

With a cat on it. I know this can't continue, but dang it's cute. Chris is going to stain the top frame to match the crib.

The bumpers, which we won't really use until he gets a bit older, are two sided. I chose to put the owl side on the inside so E could see it.

Here's a side table that Chris made. He's going to stain the top to match the crib and paint the bottom white.

We even put little birds on the closet doors.

Speaking of the closet....whoah. Still some work to do in there.

We do have the car seat, which I think is pretty cute, and the blue trashcan is what we are using for a diaper pail. I looked several places to find a pretty colored trashcan, and this blue matched perfectly.

Also notice the curtains. They are 99% noise reducing and blackout curtains. They really work too!

So that's a snap shot of the nursery!

My First Shower

I was so lucky to be showered by very close friends in Little Rock last week.

Susan and Linda also hosted by bridal shower, so it was like the gang got back together seven years later!!

They rolled with the owl theme of our nursery, and they had a beautiful centerpiece.

What a precious cake.

They even had Everett's initials hanging in the tree.

Look! It's me and Everett's grandmothers!

Look! It's me and my grandmother and mother. We were actually re-creating a photo from my bridal shower--seven years ago. I think we all look just the same.

My beautiful cousin and aunt.

 Look! The grandmothers!!

Re-creating another shot from my bridal shower.

A few of the ladies from my mom's ladies gang.

Carol and me!

Mom and Ann matched!

Crystal, my sister-in-law, was so nice to bring Colton. I don't get to see him often, and although, I never get to love on him enough...I got some good love time in.

Let's move to the presents. The ladies were beyond generous. Everett got lots of wonderful things. These photos are just a glimpse at their loving support.

Overalls!!

A robe/smoking jacket ;)

This set of clothing, blankets, socks and toys came with its own garment bag!

There's nothing like a soft sleep sack and bib. We should all wear things so soft.

Jenny and I always take cute photos.

This is my longest friend, and I couldn't have been more thrilled she could be there.

This outfit was made by my mom from our own family alpacas. She used the fleece from the alpaca and spun it into thread. She then found someone to knit the thread, and we have this amazing outfit of a sweater and booties. There's no price on this.

Look at me and sweet Colton and by beautiful sister-in-law.

My distant cousin, my grandmother, my mom's friend Kim and her daughter Mia. I'm telling you, I was showered with love from all over.

Love this one.

And finally, me and Everett's Gran.

There's no way to thank people for such love and support, but thanks.

Showering Laura

Two weeks ago, Kendra, Jenny and I showered Laura at my house in preparation for her baby girl arriving next month. I cooked; I baked a cake; I cleaned the house; but you know what I forgot? To charge my camera! So these photos are half on my camera in between when I had it charging and on an iphone. I didn't get any pre-party shots of all the details. Who am I? But you can see some of them in these.

Laura is creating a light pink and grey nursery, so that's the theme we went with. The invitation had chevron print on it so I carried that through to the food labels.

Here's the food table:

And the mommy-to-be:

And the dessert table:

The beverage area. Missed you Kendra!

I also learned that photographing a shower is difficult. Most photos look like this: People enjoying the food and talking. Yay!

Laura's niece, Bren, was a big help opening the presents. Here she is asking if Laura is finished eating so we can move things along to the gifts!

Another difficult thing about photographing a shower is that a lot of the pictures look like these because little baby things are so darn cute!

Bren continued to be a good gift-opening helper:

Laura got the cutest, softest little pink shoes along with lots of other amazing gifts!

After gifts, it was time to cut the cake. Here are the hostesses, missing Kendra, with Laura.

Bren and Laura's mom posed for us too.

I love this picture! Look at the face Bren is giving me. She's totally unimpressed by my neopolitan cake. "Can I just have a piece of cake please?" Is written all over her face.

We did manage to grab a girls shot or two.

Even though my photographic evidence is lacking a bit, I think the shower turned out pretty well.
