Another snow post

It seems silly to blog about snow when it's almost 70 degrees here today, but better late than never!

You saw our sledding adventure, but here are some photos of the actual snow fall and neighborhood.

I took this video to show how fast the snow was actually falling.

Porter was pretty content to stay in his heated bed and watch the snow from indoors.

Grace and I ventured outside on our balcony to get a good view.

Snow-covered pup.

For this next set of photographs, I set up my tripod in our kitchen window. I took 2 photographs every 30 minutes to show the increase of the snow buildup.

It's not an exact science, but if you scroll kind of quickly, you can see the change over time.

We'll see if this is our last snow of the winter or not.

Sledding

I had never been sledding.

It's just not in my blood to hurl myself down a slick hill on a flimsy sled toward certain brain damage.

But after being together for almost 7 years, my husband discovered this lapse in my childhood, and he immediately took me sledding.

This is me after my one run. I'm sitting in the bottom of an under-the-bed Rubbermaid container, wearing fleece-lined jeans, muck boots to my knees, two fleece tops underneath a rain jacket, a fleece ear warmer head band, gloves and a hat.

The best part was that Grace thought we had lost our minds. She ran next to me my entire slide down.
Here's Chris preparing for his run.

See the plastic container/sled?

Thankfully I was able to capture this moment.

Want to see it larger? I thought so.

Grace was trying to eat Chris' face off.

Best part of sledding.

Snow Day!

We saw more snow today in the South.

Grace got a face full.

This very intent look?

Stick had been covered with snow, and she was contemplating getting wet and cold to retrieve it.

What do you think she did?

Porter enjoyed the snow from the indoors. You can tell from his yawn that he was less than impressed.

HAPPY SNOW DAY

I made a collage! And other things

Our neighbors Sean and Nicole went on a ski trip last week, and we dog-sat their Izzy. Below is a collage I made of some fun times we had.

In other news, it snowed. Like real snow. Monday morning we woke up to a surprise snow storm. The flakes were huge and fell on and off all day. In an effort to capture the falling snow, I took lots of photos and even movies. But, with the sky being grey and the snowflakes being white, I couldn't get them to show up very well. What I did manage to do was to take a series of photos, one after the other, with a setting on my camera. Then I made this video! It looks like the snow is falling, and you can see the size of the flakes. Pretty snazzy.

Chris was really nice and took Grace out in the snow. He took pictures for me since there was no way I was walking to the park in the cold. For those of you who may not know, Grace has a voice. It's a low-pitched, slow drawl...kind of dopey. I am the master of the Grace voice. It's pretty close to Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh, but a slight faster tempo. See if you can hear it.

"Hey Mom, it's cold out here, and Dad wants to go to the park."

"Mooom, he's making me stand by the water and pose. I don't like to pose, Mom."

"Mom, tell Dad this is the last one. Seriously, it's cold. At least he bought me a jacket."

"Okay Mom, it's not that bad. Dad's pretty cool, and I like being crazy."

The craziness:

Snow Day with a side of ice

Friday brought ice and snow to our little island. Chris and I both worked from home, and watched the white stuff fall all day.

This little guy spent most of the day perched on our balcony hiding out from the precipitation. He was pretty cute. We figured he might have come from a nest in the bush across the street because he would fly back down to it every once in a while.

I celebrated with hot chocolate. And, I wore my athletic wear with reflectors just in case someone needed to find me or reflect light off of me.

Chris was home too!

Look at all the snow! Real live snow.

Pretty neighborhood.
Grace spent most of her day like this.

But Chris took her out for a while, and I braved the cold too.

Friday was a nice little winter treat. That evening we braved the snow with our neighbors, and traveled to the pizza joint on the island. It was trivia night and we won 2nd place!
